Biography: 

John Mugisha has more than 5 years of experience in the field of land administration, Geographical Information Systems, property valuation & land resources management. From 20thJune 2011 up to July 2012, he was a GIS specialist at National Land Centre (NLC) and later Rwanda Natural Resources Authority (RNRA)in the Land Tenure Regularization Program (LTRP). Since August 2012 up to date, he is working at the University of Rwanda in the Centre for Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing (CGIS) as Assistant Researcher. He has also been a deputy team leader of the GIS subprogram under the UR-Sweden Program for Research, Higher Education and Institutional Advancement from January 2015 to June 2019. He teaches in the Department of Estate Management & Valuation and the Department of Geography and Urban Planning. He holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Real Estate from Ardhi University, Tanzania (2012–2014), a bachelor’s degree in Geography (specialization: Urban and Regional Planning), from the former National University of Rwanda (2008-2011). His research interests are property valuation, land use planning, land administration & management, and GIS and its applications. He is currently working on different research and consultancy projects.
